Practice Leader – Benefits Plan Compliance
John has expertise in compliance matters related to health and welfare plans and useful insight surrounding the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). His in-depth knowledge includes the myriad of provisions under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the more than 15,000 pages of regulations promulgated by Health and Human Services, Department of Labor (DOL) and the Treasury Department.
John has lectured on ACA’s impact on employers, plan sponsors, employees, and the direction of plan design in the benefits marketplace; advised clients on IRC Sections 105, 125, 129, 132 and promulgated regulations; advised on DOL and Treasury compliance, including 5500 reporting, non-discrimination testing, HIPAA and HITECH privacy, security requirements and plan document requirements.
